today’s plan was to visit the mayan ruins at coba and tulum and visit playa del carmen on our way back.
we got up super early in the morning and it was pouring outside. we were hoping it would stop raining once we arrive to tulum. we packed our bags and headed out our hotel but we couldnt even make it to our car due to the crazy thunderstorm/hurricane. the valet guy told us not to go cuz he said he’s been living in cancun for more than 20 years and he’s never seen anything crazy like this. its flooding everywhere due to their poor water system.
we finished breakfast and went back to our room. i was literally staring at the window all day hoping the rain would stop. around 2:50pm the rain FINALLY stopped. i woke tingting up and we ran out of the hotel immediately. it was already too late for coba so we headed to tulum directly.
the food at la cueva del chango was very good. i loved the natural setting of the restaurant. not only the service was outstanding, but also our waiter was one of the cutest mexicans we’ve seen during our entire trip.

after we got back to cancun, we went to coco bongo. coco bongo is probably the most popular place to be for night life. it’s a dance club + show. open bar. the drinks were weak/fake. nobody gets drunk no matter how much they drink. i suggest you wear flats because its gonna be a long night standing unless you get a table. shows were good at the beginning but it gets boring fast especially when you are 100% sober. every 20 mins, a celebrity impersonator performed songs and with many of acrobats and dancers hooked up to flight harnesses.
