we wanted to check out the fish heaven: tsukiji fish market 築地市場 in tokyo. it’s ‘the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind’. we also planned to eat at sushi dai which is one of most popular sushi joint in tsukiji fish market.
sushi dai opens 5am and ppl start to wait in line as early as 3am. we took a cab there 3am in the morning and the cab fare costs approximately $45 from shibuya to tsukiji.
IT’S A HOLIDAY SO THE FISH MARKET IS CLLLLOOOOOSSSSSEEEEEEDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well thats very unfortunate. i was pretty sad and angry.
they told us all the restaurants inside the fish market were closed as well, but there are some restaurants outside the fish market still open. so we started walking around to find some sushi. i aint leaving here if i dont get some sushi today!
o-toro, toro, tuna, broilld toro, negitoro, tuna roll – i cant describe how fresh the fish was. they were not only fresh but also so butteryyyy!!! the major difference between these fish and the fish ive had elsewhere is the butteriness. probably the best pieces of fish ive ever had.
opens 24 hours
