Tsukiji Fish Market | Sushi Zanmai| Tokyo, Japan Part II

we wanted to check out the fish heaven: tsukiji fish market 築地市場 in tokyo. it’s ‘the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind’. we also planned to eat at sushi dai which is one of most popular sushi joint in tsukiji fish market.

sushi dai opens 5am and ppl start to wait in line as early as 3am. we took a cab there 3am in the morning and the cab fare costs approximately $45 from shibuya to tsukiji.

  1. dang i can’t believe the fish market was closed the day that you went! that sucks!
it’s so interesting how you describe the fish being “buttery” flavored. is it like a richness or creamy taste to the fish that you only taste when it’s so fresh? (versus sushi in the states that obviously was not caught that day..)

we recently visited tokyo last year too.. i bought soooo many snacks it was ridiculous. isn’t that Panda Pocky delicious?!?! i just had some yesterday.
